Mohawk News : Mohawk Honors Excellence in Annual Report Design and Printing

COHOES, NY - What do an international automaker, an appliance manufacturer, a botanical garden, and a charitable foundation have in common? Along with hundreds of other companies and organizations, they chose Mohawk paper for their annual reports.

Each year, Mohawk Paper Mills produces an annual report portfolio, honoring those demonstrating superior design and production. This yearês portfolio recognizes eight 1999 annual reports, produced for organizations such as the Fry Foundation and Chicago Botanic Garden, and corporations including Maytag and DaimlerChrysler.

"The honorees were selected for the combination of innovative design, excellent printing, and use of paper," explains Beth Povie, advertising manager for Mohawk. "While their approaches vary considerably, in each case, the result is the same: a compelling finished piece."

Among the techniques favored by this year's winners were duotones, 4-color, spot varnish, aqueous coating, and double-hit black. The papers selected include Mohawk Navajo, Superfine, Options, and 50/10 plus, chosen for their consistent, high-quality printing performance.

The vast majority of reports were printed on white papers, bearing out the findings of Mohawkês recent "White Paper Report on the Text and Cover Paper Industry." Honors went to:
