Mohawk News : Mohawk's Digital Portfolio continues to lead the market

COHOES, NY – At AF&PA 2003 Mohawk Paper Mills, Inc. will announce significant additions to its Digital Papers product line along with an expanded offering of converting services designed to support the growing digital printing market. Mohawk's full range of cross-platform papers continues to lead the market for premium digital papers.

According to Chris Harrold, manager of national accounts and business development for Mohawk, "The latest additions to the digital line demonstrate our continued leadership in this sector, which is one of the few bright spots in the printing market." The line now includes new pre-treated papers for HP Indigo, the widest variety of Xeikon papers in North America and new items and colors in top-selling Mohawk 50/10. The mill's commitment to the digital market is further demonstrated by increased capacity in its cut-size converting facility with the addition of the 4-pocket Evtec Sheeter and CWS-75 wrapper.

Mohawk will also release an all-new Digital Papers swatchbook, restructured to reflect a new equipment-focused approach to digital paper selection. Navajo, Satin 2.0, Options, Superfine and 50/10 have been organized to revolve around four major digital equipment categories, including printer/copiers, HP Indigo, Xeikon and DI Presses.

According to Harrold, "This user-centered arrangement allows printers and specifiers to search for papers according to the way they choose to print in a clearly designed format supported by the latest information about digital printing."

Products introduced in the Mohawk Digital Papers line: Papers for HP Indigo Printing: Mohawk now offers it's legendary Superfine, along with 50/10 ultra matte and 50/10 plus gloss, both Sapphire treated, offering the best possible digital offset color print quality and the widest variety from any text and cover mill in the US. These papers are also equipped to run on the HP family of Indigo presses.

50/10: Mohawk quality is now available in new coated products for a wider range of digital applications. New 50/10 ultra in blue white shade and complementing matte finish, along with new 100 lb. text 50/10 plus gloss, offering more choices for a broad range of digital print engines from color copiers to the latest digital color production printers.

Papers for the Xerox DocuColor iGen3: Mohawk now offers Navajo, Satin 2.0 and 50/10 plus gloss, both text and cover, in a new sheet size, 20.5 x 14.33, the maximum sheet size for the new DocuColor iGen3 production color printer.

Superfine digital publishing sizes: Mohawk Superfine, recognized by book publishers as the standard for beauty and performance, is now offered in sizes for a new generation of book printers. Sizes 12 x 19 and 14 x 19 allow digital book publishing on an emerging class of print engines with legendary Superfine quality.
