[Cohoes, NY] – Mohawk Paper Mills, Inc. recently announced the addition of a
new category in its annual Mohawk Show.
This year a special award, the Environmental Excellence Award, will be
given to a printed piece that uses one of the papers from Mohawk’s wind power
portfolio. All designers are invited to enter their work. Entries
for the Mohawk Show 6 will be accepted through Tuesday, May 31, 2005. “There is a real interest among corporations to develop
and implement sustainability programs,” says Mohawk’s Vice President of
Marketing Communications, Laura Shore.
“Not only are many large corporations using environmentally friendly
papers, many like IBM, BP, Coca Cola and GE are going one step further to create tools that communicate their
environmental initiatives to stakeholders. The Mohawk Show is a great
opportunity for designers to underscore their commitment, and their client’s
commitment to sustainability,” continues Shore. The winner of this special Environmental Excellence Award
will join the other top winners of the Mohawk Show (four), who will receive a
four-night prize package to the 2006 Sundance Film Festival (or $3,000
cash). Designers are encouraged to
enter as many pieces as they desire. Mohawk will also feature the winning
projects in a traveling exhibit, on Mohawk’s website, in trade journal ads and
in a printed Mohawk Show 6 catalog.
Winning work is selected based on intelligent design, virtuosity and
exceptional marriage of Mohawk paper and ink, as well as form and content. Special consideration in the environmental
category will be given to pieces that promote the ideals of sustainability. Any other entry not earmarked for the special environmental award must be printed primarily on one or more of Mohawk’s fine papers, including Superfine, Navajo, Options, Satin 2.0, Vellum, Tomohawk, Ultrafelt, Irish Linen, Opaque, 50/10 and Mohawk Color Copy. All commercial work is eligible, but not limited to corporate brochures, annual reports, direct mail, books, letterhead, posters, etc. Work commissioned by Mohawk Paper Mills is not eligible.
