What watermark choices are available?

Specifying a watermarked paper or a non-watermarked paper is one of the first decisions made on letterhead designs. There are four choices for letterhead papers:

Non-watermarked writing papers are self-explanatory. Without having a watermark to interfere with a design, these papers offer more design options such as printing a solid color. These letterhead papers look contemporary, are versatile, and are economical.

The most common watermarked paper is made with the paper’s brand name or mark embedded into the sheet. A watermark is an unalterable part of the paper that is created when a dandy roll presses the watermark design into the wet sheet during the papermaking process. The paper at the point of watermarking is 85% water; therefore fibers can be shifted and relocated without changing the character of the sheet or weakening it. Watermarked papers such as Strathmore Writing and Script are a symbol of excellence and distinction, elevating your corporate image.

A genuine private watermark is a custom design other than the paper’s brand name (such as a company logo) embedded into the paper when the dandy roll presses the mark into the wet web of paper. The unique mark design becomes a permanent part of the paper, adding security and authenticity; enhancing the corporate image; and lending importance and authority to written communications.
